Artimus Hetrick has been studying martial arts since 1982. His
interest in the arts began at the early age of seven when he discovered
his natural ability to draw. Before long, Artimus found himself
translating drawing forms onto paper into creating postures and
forms as his personal "body art".
Artimus has studied Isshinryu Karate in Northeast MD , Okinawa
Te Karate in Los Angeles , CA under Shihan Doversola, and in 1994
under the guidance of Sensei Tom Young discovered Ninpo (Ninjutsu),
the first art that emphasized relaxation and body mechanics as
opposed to force and speed.
In 2001, Artimus began studying at Ming Tao T'ai Chi Ch'uan Studio
with Sifu Diane Cannon. His initial attraction to T'ai Chi was for
more of a spiritual path than a martial one. However, Artimus has
discovered, with only three years experience in this complex art,
that it is very holistic, encompassing the physical, spiritual, and
everything in between. His dedication and respect for the art has
enabled him to experience the T'ai Chi Solo Form, San Shou, Pushing
Hands, Applications, various Weapons Forms, Pa-Kua and Hsing-Yi.
Artimus looks forward to helping others discover the wonders of the
Art of T'ai Chi Ch'uan.
